This article will step you through the process of installing Docker and then upgrading it to Docker 1.6.
You can also find the basic details in the official Docker installation guide here .
- Login as the root user to your server.
Install the default version of Docker (1.5):
yum install docker
Set Docker to start on boot:
systemctl enable docker
Ensure Docker isn't running:
systemctl stop docker
Download and install the new version of docker:
wget https://get.docker.com/builds/Linux/x86_64/docker-latest -O /usr/bin/docker
This will download the latest Docker binary and replace the existing one.
Once the download is complete, start the new version of Docker:
systemctl start docker
Check that Docker is running and that the version displays 1.6 for both the server and client:
You should see an output like this:
Client version: 1.6.1 Client API version: 1.18 Go version (client): go1.4.2 Git commit (client): 97cd073 OS/Arch (client): linux/amd64 Server version: 1.6.1 Server API version: 1.18 Go version (server): go1.4.2 Git commit (server): 97cd073 OS/Arch (server): linux/amd64
